The Idaho Golf Tour may assign a Tournament Index that is lower than your handicap index at their best judgement in order to provide a tournament experience that protects the greater field.

All competitors will play at an index no higher than their lowest 12 month handicap index on GHIN.

In the spirit of protecting the field, we're also implementing a Tournament Points System to help our team better monitor handicapping for those that consistently play tournament rounds better than their current GHIN index.

• For every net round -5 or better: 5 points
• For every net round -4: 4 points
• For every net round -3: 3 points

Once a player has reached the following point totals, the following reductions will be made to their tournament index:

• 10 Total Points: 100% Avg Differential of IGT Scores
• 8 Total Points: 75% Avg Differential of IGT Scores + 25% GHIN Low Index
• 6 Total Points: 50% Avg Differential of IGT Scores + 50% GHIN Low Index

Example: Player A has 8 Total Points. His average IGT Score Differential is 14.95 and his GHIN Low Index is 17.3. Since he has 8 points, he'll now play at an average of 75% of his average IGT Differential + 25% of his GHIN Low Index (=average(14.95,14.95,14.95,17.3)) which equals 15.5.

Please note, this doesn't come from a lens of accusing anybody of cheating or mismanaging their handicap. It's simply trying to protect the field and have a system in place that does so.
